Join Us and Make a Difference!
Apologies to everyone - I meant to get this out on Friday but the day got away from me! But we are back today for our regular meeting. But before we get to the recap, remember the four I's for Kiwanis this year and why we exist: To Invite, Inform, Inspire and Impact!
Our guest will be Lynda Sargent with Heart of Hope Ministries here in Rock Island.
In other news, we are very excited to learn two of our AKTION Club members attended the national convention recently held. We are so thrilled for them to be able to do this!
We will be travelling to Aledo on Thursday, June 19th for an interclub meeting. The group will be departing from Friendship Manor at 11 am, so if interested in attending, please let our President Jeff know!
After a the last bicycle giveaway for the year at Washington Jr. High, we are already thinking about next year! Thank you to Gary Miner for making the first donation towards this year's purchases of bikes for this program! If you would like to donate, the cost for a bicycle, helmet and lock is $150 and checks can be payable to the club.
The John Deere Classic is fast approaching and that means it's Birdies Time. With the John Deere Classic a month away, it's time to get your pledges in. CLICK HERE to download the pledge form this year. We'll have them at our meetings, or you can pledge online if that is easier also.
Speaking of the John Deere Classic, they can still use volunteers for Gallery Management. If you are interested in helping out, see club members Jeff Condit, Don Wentler, or Daryl Empen, and they can point you in the right direction!

We had a nice turnout for our June 2nd meeting with 18 members attending. Our guest was Hannah Carr from Youth Hope. Hannah is the Development Director. Youth Hope has 3 locations, with their main office and location in Moline at 12th Street and 41st Avenue. Their second location is on 11th Street in Rock Island, and they recently opened a Davenport facility on the west end.
